Hold saw secure on a stump while sharpening in the woods.
If you don't have a bar stand yet for your chainsaw, get one. We like this one quite a bit. Its durable and very easy to use. FYI-it helps to have a small tool box in which you'll keep your bar stand, sharpening kit and files and other small tools necessary for chainsaw use and maintenance as well as some basic first aid. The bar stand has been a very welcomed addition to our kit.
This is a great little tool that allows you to stay productive longer. Buy one of these + a Stihl chainsaw blade sharpener. Your days chopping trees will be safer and more pleasant. If you run a saw just buy this.
These vises are all about the same size, quality and similar in price. I ordered from the Oregon company thinking it will be of a little bit better construction due to the name. We'll see.
I didnt know something like this existed. I was thinking how cool and helpful it would be to have vise like this and then i found it here. It good to sharp your chain when you are out door and no access to electrical chain sharpening tool.
I use a small platform on two sawhorses to clean my chainsaws before putting them away. I drilled two holes to fit this vise into when I sharpen the chains. I can also keep it nearby when working in the woods for a quick touch up if needed. It's highly visible if dropped and ruggedly built.
Easy to transport and if very handy when you need to touch up the saw
way to firmly hold the saw while sharpening in the field.
This is great for filing your chainsaws when you're out in the forest.
Very easy to use.
No longer have to fight the saw when filing!
Great for holding your saw bar for sharpening the chain. Just remember to tighten the chain and use the chain break to keep the chain from shifting while sharpening. Best to use this in soft wood or on a large stump where the spikes can penetrate easily and then be removed easily. Use a large screwdriver between the spikes to lift the vise out of the wood. good compliment to your field kit.
A must have when you need to sharpen a chainsaw in the woods.

This helps in the field when sharpening the chain.
Works great when out in the woods cutting wood. Easy to use. Durable. Appears to be well made.
A very simple device that works very well for its intended purpose of holding a chain saw steady for quick touch-up sharpenings in the field. I don't carry the extra weight of a hammer with me for driving it into a stump but just whack it a couple of times with a solid piece of cut off branch.
